Plans and Permit Support for Contractors

Close the gap between the documents on hand and the work that needs authorization. True North helps contractors organize missing design, permit packages and controlled responses.

For owners, project teams and delivery partners nationwide. The written scope identifies True North’s work, the responsible professionals and any separately contracted construction.

What the scope can include

Select the work and handoff your project needs. The agreement identifies the included deliverables and responsibilities.

  • Sketches and missing design scope

Develop authorized sketches into a defined documentation assignment and identify technical work that needs a responsible professional. Distinguish field information from an approved design.

  • Questions, substitutions and corrections

Route technical questions, product alternatives and inspection corrections to the appropriate designer. Keep approvals and drawing versions aligned before affected construction relies on them.

  • Deferred submittals and completion records

Track outstanding submissions, issued documents and supported field changes. Assemble agreed handoff records without treating an unchanged design set as an as-built.

Prepare for the assignment

You can start with incomplete records. Tell us what is available and what still needs to be established.

  • Information to bring

Issued plans, permits, sketches, field information, inspection comments, proposed substitutions and the authorized design/contact chain.

  • The agreed handoff

A gap-and-action register, coordinated revised or supplemental documents and controlled permit/closeout records.

Decisions, fees and timing

Scope and dependencies determine the proposal. No universal price or approval date is assumed.

  1. Confirm the basis and responsibility

Review the available records, intended endpoint and authority to use the information. Assign missing inputs, technical decisions and the parties who can authorize changes.

  2. Coordinate and review the work

Prepare the included documents from agreed inputs, resolve interfaces with responsible specialists and track revisions. Record external decisions and conditions separately from work prepared for review.

  3. Account for project-specific dependencies

Assignment size, source-data quality, file standards, review cycles and changes to the authorized technical direction.

  4. Deliver the defined milestone

Provide the controlling documents and remaining-action record. Identify what is accepted, what still requires a decision and what belongs to a separately contracted next stage.

Common questions

Can field sketches replace professional design?

They provide useful information. The relevant responsible professional determines the technical analysis and documents needed before changes are authorized.

How is overflow or repeat work scoped?

Agree the specific deliverables, source information, review authority, file formats and handoff milestone. New technical design, field investigation or additional submissions are identified as changes when outside that agreement.
